Almost a year since the last update.

Hi everyone!

Lets see in the last year…

  • 5 Triathlons
  • 2 Marathons
  • 1 Epic week of diving in Bonaire.

The second marathon was in the beginning of march, and once we finished that we decided it was time for a few months off of race training. It is time for body training. I gained almost 30lbs in the last 3 years and I was seeing my race results get worse, even though I was training more. This is going to be the time where I will try to get back to race weight. I am focused on my calories in vs out. Trying to make sure I don’t exert myself to much so I can avoid the “run-gries” or the “swim-gries”

The goal is to walk at least 10k steps a day, and try to ride my non race bike around the house a few times a week. Quix and I had signed up for a few races that we will do, but we wont be “training” for them. We will just show up and see where we are.

Swim Challenge and Austin 10/20

I expect we will add Lake Pflugerville tri also before we start to really train up again.

I have set a monthly calendar reminder to come update this once a month or more if I can.

Water Running? I think I turned it off.

Monday Jan 19, I started my 2 weeks of water running. I decided to cut my swim distance in half and water run the other half, this way I could keep going to the pool at lunch. Ooof! Water running isn’t easy at all. My leg might be used to walking again but I really could feel the calf muscles that are engaged when running start to work again in the pool.2015-02-01 23.12.17

I am going to count my water running distances with my swim totals for my monthly total, since its all pool time. It might be cheating, but hey, it was my own challenge. I did 7 days of swimming + water running in a row, and on the 8th day I was able to get on the treadmill.

So, on the 23rd I was able to start getting on the treadmill. I have renamed my home treadmill to the Treadybear. The name is silly, but for a $15 garage sale treadmill that works, its good for me.

2015-02-09 09.21.24I finished up the month of January with 27 miles swam in 16 hours and 48 minutes. For sure, my biggest swim month ever. My paces are better and I am more comfortable in the water than ever before.

My last swim of the month I went out to the pool with the intentions of swimming at least a 5k. It was cold and raining and quite miserable, but I ended up doing 7k. Woohoo!2015-01-31 15.59.51

Now February is ramp up month on the treadmill. Ill make that in another post.

Have a good one!
